Consequences of Underage Drinking.
Not only are teens affecting their health they are also affecting their lives. Underage drinking is strongly associated with many health and social problems among youth including alcohol-impaired driving, physical fighting, poor school performance, sexual activity, and smoking (CDC). Alcohol is the most commonly used and abused drug among youth in the United States, more than tobacco and illicit drugs, and is responsible for more than 4,300 annual deaths among underage youth (CDC).
One of the problems that occur because of drinking is having school problems. Some examples of school problems are absences and poor grades. Students that drink large amounts of alcohol during the weekends are more likely to have hangovers which make them not want to go to school.
Underage drinking has many consequences, consequences that could impact your future. Adolescence are often engaged in sexual activities while above the influence which is very dangers because many are not aware what they are doing. Some are either not using protection correctly or not using it at all. This could cause adolescents to spread sexually transmitted diseases.
Drinking at a young age could also make you feel like you could do other things like smoke. Teens will feel that if they can get alcohol then they could also get a pack of cigarettes. The cycle could further continue if they feel that they could try new drugs to make them feel different. Alcohol could be the gateway to other drugs because they will be tempted to feel something different from being drunk.
